Child Development Program / Day Care
Daily Schedule

We operate the Colorado River Union High School District’s Child Development Centers  as a cooperative effort among the Teenage Parenting Program (TAPP) and Career and Technical Education. The Child Development Program offers classes in parenting, child development theory, and hands-on career and life training.

Philosophy and Statement of Services

We believe in providing quality child care in a warm, nurturing, caring, and positive environment. We dictate our philosophy of educating young children by how children grow and learn. Children are naturally active and curious learners. They need learning environments that they may explore at their own pace and in their own style. They also need a variety of hands-on experiences where we emphasize the learning process over the finished product.

Respecting the complexity of child development, we maintain goals for children that are developmentally appropriate by providing them with key learning experiences. The concept of Developmental Appropriateness has two dimensions – age appropriateness and individual appropriateness. We strive to provide an environment that facilitates the opportunity to learn by doing, moving from concrete hands-on experiences to more abstract concept development.

Program Goals
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for all children.
  • Foster a sense of self-confidence and well being in each child.
  • Expose children to pre-reading, pre-math, science, art, and music and movement activities.
  • Provide physical activities to facilitate gross and fine motor skill development.
  • To develop in children a positive attitude towards self, others, school, and learning.
  • To develop a partnership with parents.

Hours of Operation

The center will be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except for scheduled days when we are closed. We will charge a late fee of $1.00 per minute for every minute after 5:35 p.m. for each child whose parents have not picked him/her up by 5:35 p.m. Repeated instances of late pick-ups may be grounds for disenrollment.

Child Enrollment/Disenrollment Procedures

The Child Development Center provides child care services to infants through pre-school age children. Although the Center is open to other children in the community, we want our community clients to be aware that if our center is filled to capacity and a teen parent needing child care returns to school, we will give the community client one week advanced notice to find alternative child care.

Each child participating in the Child Development Program must complete an enrollment packet which includes, but is not limited to, an emergency card, a photo authorization, a payment agreement form, and a current copy of the child’s immunization record. We are required by the State to maintain accurate, up-to-date, immunization records. We require immunization records prior to your child’s first day of enrollment, and we will update our records anytime your child receives a new immunization.

The Center reserves the right to withdraw a child for any discrepancies with the child’s enrollment application or for not adhering to policies and procedures we have stated in our handbook. If you would like to withdraw your child from the center, please notify the Center Director in writing a minimum of one week prior to disenrollment.

In case of emergencies, please fill out our enrollment card with all of your contact information and your child's immunization records.

Tuition

This program provides families who meet the income criteria with supplemental child care funds. If any parent bringing his or her child to the Child Development Center is in need of assistance in applying for D.E.S. subsidy for child care, we will provide that assistance.

We base our fees on enrollment status, not the days a child is present. The charges for child care services are as follows:

Enrollment Status Fee

  • Full-day care (more than 6 hours) $110.00 weekly*
  • Part-day care (less than 6 hours) $90.00 weekly
  • Daily care (limited space available) $25.00 day

*We will give a 10% discount for two or more children

We will not charge parents for holidays, center closings, or for scheduled vacation time. Vacation time must consist of five consecutive days off.
